MAHENDR S. KOCHAR, M.D., M.S., M.B.A.

Dr. Kochar was born in Jabalpur and grew
up in Nagpur. He received his M.B.B.S. degree
from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in
1965. He received postgraduate training in
Internal Medicine at the University of London
Hospitals in England and at the Allegheny General
Hospital, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He did
postgraduate work in Pharmacology at the Medical
College of Wisconsin and a fellowship in Nephrology
and Hypertension at the Milwaukee County General
Hospital. He received a Master of Science
degree in Pharmacology from the Medical College of
Wisconsin, Milwaukee in 1976. He completed the
two-year Executive MBA program at the University of
Wisconsin, Milwaukee in 1987. He is presently
the Chief of Hypertension and Associate Chief of
Staff for Education at the Zablocki VA Medical
Center in Milwaukee.
He is a Professor in the
Departments of Medicine and Pharmacology and
Toxicology at the Medical College of Wisconsin where
he is also the Associate Dean for Graduate Medical
Education. He is Board certified in Family
Practice, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Geriatrics,
Clinical Pharmacology and Medical Administration.
Dr. Kochar is a fellow of the American College of
Physicians, the Royal Colleges of Physicians of
London and Canada, and the American College of
Cardiology. He has contributed over 100
articles and abstracts to medical journals and has
authored a book on hypertension. He is also
the editor and co-author of the concise Textbook of
Medicine. Dr. Kochar's name is listed in
Marquis's Who's Who in America since 1987.
He
received the Distinguished Service Award of the
Medical College of Wisconsin. This award recognizes
a long term commitment of the faculty to the
educational, research, and clinical programs and
outstanding contributions at a national scale. He
will be the Chairman of the Board of Governors of
the American College of Physicians for one year,
from April 1998 to April 1999. He also serves on the
30 member Board of Regents of ACP.
Dr. Kochar has
recently been honored by the University of
Wisconsin-Milwaukee Alumni Association as a 1998 Graduate
of the Past Decade award recipient in
recognition of outstanding achievement in the field
of medicine.
