Bio: Dr. Gurdesh Bedi is a Neuromuscular Neurologist who practices full time at the Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology, MN. He completed his medical schooling at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (1998-2003). He then continued his Neurology and subspecialty training at the University of Miami, FL and the Cleveland Clinic, OH. An active physician leader- he has served on the board of directors of the Wisconsin Medical Society, St Croix Health and Minnesota Sikh Society; and the Medical Economics and Practice Committee of the American Academy of Neurology. He lives in St Paul, MN with his wife Preetika, son Kabeer and daughter Meera.

Vision: A meeting place for AIIMSonians- one that strengthens bonds and helps its members reach their full potential.

Dr. Deepta Ghate

Bio: Deepta is an Associate Professor in the department of ophthalmology, Service line Chief at Emory University hospital, Director of Inpatient ophthalmology and Fellowship director of the ophthalmology inpatient fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta GA. She has trained in ocular physiology at the Emory Eye Center and in glaucoma at the University of Nebraska. She is a clinician scientist and has been funded by NIH, the Nebraska Research Initiative, the IDeA CTR program, the American Glaucoma Society, Center for Health in Aging, Georgia tech CTSA among other. Her research work focuses on the impact of visual disability on activities of daily living particularly driving, visual perception and ocular disease and ocular biomarkers for CNS disorders. Her clinical work focusses on adult and pediatric glaucoma and inpatient ophthalmology.

Vision: AoA is my favorite meeting every year. It’s a place to connect with friends and to get world class CME that instills the joy of learning again.

Bio: Dr Rajeev Saini is a practicing internist in Syracuse NY. He is board certified in Obesity medicine and is a fellow of American College of Physicians. He joined AIIMS in 1986 and did Internal Medicine residency at SUNY Syracuse, NY. He is married to Charu Saini, a general dentist and has twin daughters. He enjoys traveling and spending time with friends/family.

Amita Rastogi, MD

Bio:Dr. Amita Rastogi is currently serving as Chief Medical Officer at OxBridge Health, an innovative startup health plan that uses episode-of-care-based benefit design for its members. She is also acting Chief Medical Officer at Althea.AI, a startup focused on health equity and understanding cost and quality drivers around social determinants of health. An accomplished surgeon -- whose career took her from being the first woman at AIIMS to qualify as a heart surgeon, to getting the best resident of the year award for Cardiac Surgery from the Mayo Clinic, to performing heart transplants at the University of Kentucky – Amita traded in her scalpel to solve the gaps in care that were impacting her patients’ health once they left her operating room. In today’s presentation she will talk about her long and interesting journey from clinical medicine to administrative leadership and what aspiring leaders need to know in this space. Dr. Rastogi is a Mayo-trained cardiac surgeon, certified in heart and lung transplantation, and has over 30 years of experience in the clinical arena as well as in health services research. She spent 11 years at AIIMS as an undergraduate and then completed the 5-yr straight MCh (CTVS) program. Later, she received her Master’s degree in Health Administration (MHA) from the Martin School of Public Policy and Administration at the University of Kentucky and her Masters in Health Studies (Biostatistics & Epidemiology) from the University of Chicago.

Vision:To create an atmosphere where we meet and learn from other AIIMSonians. We are like-minded people, share a common legacy and have much to offer to the younger AIIMSonians. To get inspired, rekindle old ties and make new friends. Have fun in an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.

Namrata Singh, MD

Bio:Dr Singh is a board certified adult rheumatologist in the Div of Rheumatology at the University of Washington. Before moving to WA, she was a faculty at the University of Iowa where she completed her Master of Science in Clinical Investigation. She completed her Rheumatology fellowship at the Temple University in Philadelphia. Dr Singh is an "onco-geri-rheumatologist" with her research focusing on the care of patients, especially older adults, with rheumatic diseases who develop cancer or those with cancer who develop complications of cancer therapies. She is currently funded by the NIAMS K23 and the GEMSSTAR award from the NIA to build an evidence base for this patient population. Besides working on her projects, she enjoys mentoring the next generation of physicians.

Dr. Rajesh Kabra

Bio: Rajesh Kabra, MD, FACC, FHRS is a cardiac electrophysiologist and Associate Program Director, Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship program with Kansas City Heart Rhythm Institute at HCA Midwest Health in Overland Park, KS. He serves as Professor (Adjunct), University of Tennessee Health Scuince Center, Memphis TN. He graduated from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (1993 batch), following which he did his Internal Medicine Residency at St Francis Hospital, Evanston IL and University of Iowa, Iowa City IA. He did his Cardiovascular Disease fellowship at University of Iowa, Iowa City IA and Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship at the Massachussetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School Boston MA.

Dr. Kabra was a professor, Section Chief of Cardiac Electrophysiology, and founding program director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis TN prior to joining KCHRI. Dr. Kabra received the “Top 40 Under 40” award by the Memphis Business Journal and has been awarded the Castle Connolly Top Doctor award several years. He serves on several national committees including the American College of Cardiology Electrophysiology Council, and the American College of Cardiology EP performance question writing committee

Dr. Kabra is very active in clinical research and has served as local principal investigator for several multicenter clinical studies. He has authored several manuscripts in prestigious journals including the Journal of American College of Cardiology, Heart Rhythm Journal, American Journal of Cardiology, and Journal of the American Medical Association. His research interests include use of artificial intelligence in cardiac electrophysiology and outcomes with atrial fibrillation management.

Dr. Anil Chauhan

Bio: Dr. Anil Chauhan is a Professor of Radiology and the Department Vice-Chair of Artificial Intelligence, Informatics, and Innovation. He graduated from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, followed by residency at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis MN, where he was awarded "Research Resident of the Year", and fellowship in body imaging at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. Before joining the faculty at KUMC, Dr. Chauhan held faculty positions at the University of Pennsylvania as Assistant Professor and Director of the Center for Advanced Liver Imaging, and at the University of Minnesota as Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Radiology Research Resources.

Dr. Chauhan enjoys teaching the medical students, residents, and fellows, and was awarded "teacher of the year" by the residents at the University of Minnesota. His areas of clinical practice involve abdominal imaging, with a specific interest in oncologic imaging. He is also a fellow of multiple societies, including AIUM, SAR and SRU. 

Dr. Chauhan has an extensive research background, with specific interest in radiomics, large data analytics, and oncologic imaging research. He has special passion of AI applications in early diagnosis and prognosis of disease process. He is on editorial board of multiple journals, and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Chauhan has also developed multiple collaborations between different departments, colleges, and Institutions. He has given numerous CME lectures locally and nationally.

Dr. Mallika Gupta

Bio: I am a transplant nephrologist at University of Kansas Medical center since 2020. I work with patients with late-stage kidney disease throughout the spectrum of kidney transplantation, including pre- transplant evaluation and all aspects of management at the time of and after transplant. My primary clinical research interest is to understand and identify the gaps in cardiac care for patients with kidney disease with the goal to standardize the testing and management in pre- and post-transplant patient for a successful and long-lasting kidney transplantation. I have been an active member of American society of transplantation by being on various community of practice executive committee for the past 3 years. I am also program director for transplant nephrology fellowship at University of Kansas. I am an AIIMSonian from AIIMS Delhi, batch of 2002. My husband Amit Noheria is also an AIIMSonian from Batch of 2000. We have 1 son who keeps us busy during and outside of work.

Dr. Amit Noheria

Bio: Dr. Amit Noheria is the Director of Program for AI Research in Cardiovascular Medicine (PARC) and an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Section of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC). He grew up in India and graduated medical school from the acclaimed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, India. He received Master of Science in Epidemiology at the Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, MA. He finished his clinical training with Internal Medicine residency at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, Cardiology fellowship at Cedars-Sinai, Los Angeles, CA and Electrophysiology fellowship at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. Before joining KUMC, he was an Assistant Profession of Medicine at Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. Noheria takes care of patients with complex heart rhythm disorders including complex congenital heart disease and heart failure. He is passionate about teaching medical students, residents, and fellows. He is committed to meaningful research and innovation that can improve the care and lives of patients. His research interests have evolved toward novel processing methods including artificial intelligence (AI) in reexploring electrocardiography (ECG), cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) and other aspects of cardiovascular care including arrhythmia ablation and implantable cardiac electronic devices. He is the founding Director of PARC at KUMC which has the mission of pursuing research in precise interpretation of cardiovascular diagnostic data powered by AI to improve patient outcomes.

Dr. Ajay Bansal

Bio: Dr. Bansal completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at New York Medical College, New York. Subsequently, he served as the Chief Resident at New York Medical College, New York. Then he completed his Gastroenterology Fellowship from the University Hospital at Stony Brook, Long Island, New York. Currently, he is the Medical Director of Gastroenterology Cancers Prevention Clinic of the NCI-designated Kansas University Cancer Center and a Professor of Medicine in the Department of Gastroenterology at the University of Kansas Health System, Kansas City, KS.

His overarching research interest is cancer prevention. He conducts research in the areas of inherited gastrointestinal cancer syndromes, Barrett’s esophagus and novel imaging techniques for detection of premalignant and malignant lesions in the gastrointestinal tract. He is the principal investigator on a National Cancer Institute (NCI) funded 16-center trial to test a novel combination of vaccines and IL-15 superagonist in patients with Lynch syndrome. He recently was funded by the NCI to repurpose itraconazole for prevention of recurrent Barrett’s esophagus in a 5-center clinical trial. He has > 100 peer-reviewed publications and is a reviewer for multiple peer-reviewed journals including Nature, Gastroenterology and Gut. His work on cancer prevention vaccines was recently profiled in the Wall Street Journal.

Dr. Sharad Mathur

Bio: Dr. Mathur serves as the Associate Director of Medical and Dental Education in the Office of Academic Affiliations in the Veterans Health Administration. In his 25+ year career with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), he has served in multiple roles at the Kansas City VA Medical Center and VA Integrated Service Network 15 (VISN15) including Associate Chief of Staff for Education, VISN15 Academic Officer, Service Chief for Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Laboratory Director, VISN15 Chief Pathologist, and VA Site Director for Pathology Residents.

In addition, Dr. Mathur has been active in medical student and resident education at the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he is a Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and previously served as the Associate Program Director of the Pathology Residency Program and Discipline Director for Pathology and related disciplines for the ACE (Active, Competency-based, Excellence-driven) undergraduate medical curriculum. His classroom teaching and educational program leadership have been recognized by multiple teaching awards including the Ruth Bohan Teaching Professorship.

Dr. Mathur completed his medical education at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi, India, followed by a residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and fellowships in Hematopathology and Surgical Pathology at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, and the George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, DC. He is board certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with subspecialty certification in Hematology.

Dr. Ruchika Goel

Bio: Dr. Ruchika Goel serves as a Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, at SIU School of Medicine, Springfield, IL and as an adjunct faculty in the Department of Pathology, Division of Transfusion Medicine, at Johns Hopkins University. She is also Senior Medical Director, Corporate Medical Affairs at Vitalant National Office, Scottsdale, AZ. Dr. Goel did her Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University and Transfusion Medicine Fellowship, at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell and New York Blood Center. Dr. Goel is actively engaged in research in Big Data and Novel Computational Methods in Hematology and Transfusion Medicine. She also serves as an invited consultant and subject matter expert for the NIH/NHLBI funded REDS-IV-P longitudinal studies. She is the current chair of the Pediatric Subgroup of the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT). Dr. Goel has multiple accolades to her name including the AABB Fenwal Future Leader TM Scholarship Award, Paul J. Stranjford Young Investigator award by the ACLPS, BEST Collaborative Scott Murphy Lectureship, 40 under 40 award for exemplary clinical service and has also received international recognition with the ISBT Harold Gunsen fellowship and the Australian and New Zealand Blood Transfusion Society Presidential award. Dr. Goel has over 125 peer reviewed publications and book chapters to her name including key first author publications in some leading journals including JAMA, JAMA Surgery, Blood, Transfusion, Lancet Americas, and Vox Sanguinis and has been invited to lecture nationally and internationally on topics of her research focus.

Dr. Preet Paul Singh

Bio: Dr. Preet Paul Singh is Partner and Consultant in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Springfield Clinic. He also serves on the Board of Directors and is the Chairman of Clinical Research at Springfield Clinic. Dr. Singh completed his Internal Medicine residency at University of Alabama at Birmingham and his Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He was Chief Fellow at Mayo Clinic. Dr. Singh was an Assistant Professor of Medicine in Division of Oncology at Washington University in St Louis prior to joining Springfield Clinic Dr. Singh is a practicing hematologist/oncologist with a focus on gastrointestinal and thoracic malignancies as well as multiple myeloma. His leadership extends to serving on NCI Multiple Myeloma Steering Committee, Heartland NCORP executive committee and Springfield Clinic Cancer Center executive committee. He has been instrumental in developing a robust oncology clinical trial program at Springfield Clinic. Dr. Singh has received multiple prestigious awards including HONORS (Hematology Opportunities for the Next Generation of Research Scientists) Award by American Society of Hematology and Conquer Cancer Foundation Merit Award by American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Singh has over 40 peer reviewed publications and book chapters to his name in some leading journals including Journal of Clinical Oncology, Lancet Oncology, Blood, Leukemia, Annals of Oncology, Gastroenterology and Nature Reviews Gastroenterology & Hepatology.

Bio: Munish Sharma, MD, MBA, is a 1995 graduate of AIIMS, where he also completed his residency in Ophthalmology. He currently serves as the Chief of Staff for Vision Essentials at Kaiser Permanente Southern California, SBC service area. Since 2006, he has supported the AIIMS-USA website in various capacities, overseeing its transition from a static website to Drupal and later to WordPress. He continues to advise on the transition of AOA Update to a new membership-driven website in 2025.

Amit Vohra, MD

Bio:I am a Pediatric Intensivist at Dayton Children’s hospital in Ohio. My clinical interests are in the fields of quality improvement in perioperative handoffs, brain death declaration determination, diabetic ketoacidosis and deep sedation in medical imaging. My spouse is an accountant , an insurance broker and budding financial advisor. Our sons are college bound in 2025 and 2026 and it’s a transitional time for our family.

Vision: A meeting place both virtual and real to foster a strong alumni network with ongoing support on personal and work issues for graduates of AIIMS New Delhi living in USA. A community which in addition to the core annual social reunion can develop a platform which showcases the immense contributions of our alumni in the field of medicine and maintain strong intraalumni connections well into the 21st century. A place where friends hang out and continuously onboard recent graduates into the community and have a “we are stronger together” approach to its mission.

Abhinav Singh Verma, MD

Bio: 2012 batch MBBS Aiimsonian Modernite (modern barakhamba), Pulse CC 2015, represented India in SWY30. Former Neurosurgery resident (pgy2) at AIIMS Delhi, currently PGY-2 Psychiatry resident at MetroHealth, Cleveland, plans to pursuing interventional neuropsychiatry and interventional pain medicine, blending expertise in minimally invasive brain stimulation techniques to transform psychiatric care.

Vision:Establishing bridge for interested aiims delhi graduates to maintain Aoa population. Number of Aiimsonians pursuing a career in states is declining rapidly due to multiple reasons, addressing modifiable factors and support!

Bio: Dr. Nikhil Gupta is a clinical endocrinologist currently practicing in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada. His journey in medicine began at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, where he built lifelong friendships and a deep commitment to healthcare. He later pursued a Master of Public Health at the University of North Carolina, followed by residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of Pittsburgh. Nikhil’s clinical interests span diabetes care and prevention, thyroid disorders (including thyroid cancer), and general endocrinology. Over the years, he has also been involved in research focused on diabetes, thyroid cancer, and osteoporosis—areas that continue to inspire his practice. Being part of the AIIMSONIANS of America feels like coming home. Nikhil is passionate about giving back and helping build a strong, engaged alumni network. He firmly believes that when AIIMSONIANS come together, we can uplift not just each other—but communities around the world.

Bio: Dr. Gurdesh Bedi is a Neuromuscular Neurologist who practices full time at the Minneapolis Clinic of Neurology, MN. He completed his medical schooling at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi (1998-2003). He then continued his Neurology and subspecialty training at the University of Miami, FL and the Cleveland Clinic, OH. An active physician leader- he has served on the board of directors of the Wisconsin Medical Society, St Croix Health and Minnesota Sikh Society; and the Medical Economics and Practice Committee of the American Academy of Neurology. He lives in St Paul, MN with his wife Preetika, son Kabeer and daughter Meera.

Amit Vohra, MD

Bio:I am a Pediatric Intensivist at Dayton Children’s hospital in Ohio. My clinical interests are in the fields of quality improvement in perioperative handoffs, brain death declaration determination, diabetic ketoacidosis and deep sedation in medical imaging. My spouse is an accountant , an insurance broker and budding financial advisor. Our sons are college bound in 2025 and 2026 and it’s a transitional time for our family.

Vision: A meeting place both virtual and real to foster a strong alumni network with ongoing support on personal and work issues for graduates of AIIMS New Delhi living in USA. A community which in addition to the core annual social reunion can develop a platform which showcases the immense contributions of our alumni in the field of medicine and maintain strong intraalumni connections well into the 21st century. A place where friends hang out and continuously onboard recent graduates into the community and have a “we are stronger together” approach to its mission.

Sahil Khanna, MD

Bio: Sahil Khanna is a Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. He completed Medical School at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi; Post Doctoral Research at University of California San Diego, CA; Residency in Internal Medicine and Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN before joining the Faculty. He also completed Masters in Clinical and Translational Sciences at Mayo Clinic. Sahil's interests include Epidemiology, Outcomes and Emerging Therapeutics for Clostridioides difficile infection and the interaction between C difficile and Inflammatory bowel diseases. He has an extensive publication record with over 200 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. He has presented all over the world in the field of C difficile infection. He has a passion for education and mentorship and serves as an associate program director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. He directs the C. difficile Clinic and the Microbiota Therapeutics program. He has won numerous awards including the Miles and Shirley Fiterman Award, Mayo Brothers Distinguished Fellowship Award, Donald C. Balfour Mayo Clinic Alumni Association Research Award, amongst others.
